Council discusses accessibility action plan

Putrajaya, Malaysia – The National Council for Local Government (MNKT) which met on July 23 discussed the Accessibility Action Plan for Persons with Disabilities involving local authorities.

The consideration papers on the action plan being the standard guide in the formulation of the accessibility action plan by each PBT were presented at the 74th MNKT meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail here.

“It includes the guidelines for enhancing the accessibility of both indoor and outdoor facilities as well as public spaces within each PBT,” said the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) in a statement issued in conjunction with the meeting.

The KPKT said the meeting also discussed the guideline for mosquito control in PBT areas, focusing on the prevention and control of mosquito breeding grounds in premises and the surrounding areas.

“The three strategies outlined in this guideline are risk area management, healthcare promotion and community involvement as well as law enforcement,” the KPKT said.
