Organisations planning inclusive community events and activities to celebrate International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) 2025 can apply for a share of $100,000 funded by the Cook Labor Government.
IDPwD is a United Nations-sanctioned day that is celebrated every year on 3 December. It aims to increase public awareness and understanding of people with disability and celebrate their achievements and contributions to the community.
Western Australia’s theme for this year’s day of celebration is ‘Celebrating Our Unity’ which recognises that by working together, better outcomes for people with disabilities can be achieved. The theme also honours the knowledge, lived experience and valued perspectives of people with disability.
Local government authorities, community groups and not-for-profit organisations are eligible to apply for grants of up to $1,000.
Grants will be awarded to recipients who run initiatives and events that aim to raise awareness and educate and inform the broader community about people with disability.
The grants funding supports the vision of the State Disability Strategy – to build a more inclusive Western Australia and empower people with disability to participate meaningfully in all parts of society.
Developmental Disability WA will administer the grants on behalf of the Department of Communities to celebrate IDPwD 2025.
