India’s President Murmu to launch ‘Purple Fest’ promoting disability inclusion

Rashtrapati Bhawan

Following the success of the ‘International Purple Fest, 2024’ in Goa, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in India is preparing for another groundbreaking event. On February 26, 2024, the picturesque Amrit Udyaan within the Rashtrapati Bhawan premises will come alive with the colors of inclusivity and joy as President Droupadi Murmu inaugurates the ‘Purple Fest.’

Expected to draw over thousand persons with disabilities and their companions, this fest, led by the Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities, promises a day of celebration and empowerment.

Attendees can explore interactive stalls advocating accessibility and disability rights, participate in educational initiatives like ‘Know Your Disabilities,’ and enjoy various attractions including the Purple Cafe, Purple Kaleidoscope, and Purple Live Experience Zone.

Moreover, the fest provides a platform for showcasing talents at the Purple Sports Arena and encourages visitors to explore the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum, fostering understanding and appreciation of inclusivity. More than just a celebration, the ‘Purple Fest’ aims to challenge stereotypes, promote empathy, and foster a society that embraces diversity and inclusion.
