The independent Sustainable Transport Solution report has been released, delivering on a key commitment of the Tasmanian Government.
The Government engaged peak body for disability service organisations, National Disability Services, to examine accessible vehicle availability across Tasmania.
Minister for Disability Services, Jo Palmer, said the report provided a valuable understanding of the opportunities available to improve access to safe, secure and reliable transport for people with disability.
“The Government welcomes the Sustainable Transport Solution report and its research into improving the transport for our disability community,” Minister Palmer said.
“The final report shares unique opportunities for co-designed solutions between disability providers and community transport organisations and we will be carefully considering the recommendations as we look to progress the next stage of the Sustainable Transport Solution.”
Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Kerry Vincent, said the research will help the Government understand the needs of people with a disability and their vehicle access requirements.
“The findings from this research report will ultimately help to better understand the unmet transport needs of the disability community and guide our goals of building stronger communities for all Tasmanians,” Minister Vincent said.
