Southern Railway installed Braille navigation maps at the entrance of Dr. MGR Central and Egmore stations in Chennai, India, to guide passengers with vision disabilities.

The Braille Navigation Maps were installed under the Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of Renault Nissan and Standard Chartered Bank.

The guiding map measuring 3×3 feet is fixed at the entrance of the stations. These maps will guide passengers with vision disabilities to navigate the station to access ticket counters, concourse area, water taps, accessible toilets, waiting rooms, cloakrooms, and platforms.

These Braille boards/signs will also have QR codes to guide passengers with vision disabilities who prefer audio navigations.

Quick Response (QR) codes have been provided on the Braille signs/boards and can be scanned with smartphones. This will activate audio messages guiding, which will guide the passengers with vision disabilities to the destinations they intended to go, according to the Southern Railway statement.
