Kremlin to improve public infrastructure accessibility for persons with disabilities

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian government to improve the accessibility of public infrastructure for people with disabilities, the Kremlin press service reports.

The Cabinet of Ministers was instructed to submit proposals on the rating of social, transport, and public infrastructures accessibility for people with disabilities.

Vladimir Putin instructed the government “to take measures to prevent the abolition of mandatory requirements for ensuring accessibility facilities and services for persons with disabilities,” and ensure the participation of representatives of disability organizations in working groups on the implementation of administrative reform, which are considering draft regulatory legal acts that address issues of ensuring accessibility of facilities for people with disabilities.

Together with the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, the Government of Russia, with the participation of DPO’s, submit proposals on the rating of social, public, and transport infrastructures accessibility for people with disabilities, said in the statement.
