Yarra’s policy aims to integrate universal design into everyday life

Yarra City Council’s Universal Design and Disability Inclusion Policy guides all the work we do to ensure we are a more accessible and inclusive place for our community.

The Policy focuses on six key priority areas:

  • Accessible places and transport – Create public spaces and facilities that are inclusive and connected
  • Inclusive services, programs and information – ensuring everyone can access what Council offers
  • Inclusive participation and employment – supporting involvement in community life and work
  • Fairness and safety – promoting equitable treatment and safe environments
  • Belonging and celebration – recognising and valuing diverse experiences
  • Effective data and reporting outcomes – improving how we measure progress and accountability

Now we want to hear from the community. Your feedback will help finalise the Policy before it goes to Council later this year.

You can review the draft Policy and share your thoughts online, or find out how to speak with us in person at one of our upcoming pop‑up sessions by visiting Your Say Yarra.
