Bernama TV launches sign language interpreter in news broadcast

Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) TV has launched the sign language interpreter services in the Bernama Bulletin news broadcast.

Bernama TV was launched in 2008, became the first broadcasting TV station in Malaysia to use the sign language interpreter for sports news broadcasts.

“The accessibility improvements were made to give more options and opportunities to persons with hearing disabilities to enjoy the news broadcast.” said Bernama, chairman Senator Ras Adiba Radzi

“We want to ensure that the broadcasting news is accessible so that persons with disabilities can appreciate the news we want to deliver and ensures information reaches everyone nationwide,” she said.

Ras Adiba also expressed her appreciation and thanks to the Minister of Communications and Multimedia Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah for permitting realising the proposal to use the services of sign language interpreters for news broadcasts.
