New map launched to help people find accessible parking spaces

Parking spot for disabled people

The Bath & North East Somerset Council has launched the new map to help people find accessible parking spaces in Bath, UK.

Some Disability parking spaces across Bath have been temporarily suspended as a result of the introduction of social distancing measures by Bath & North East Somerset Council.

The council, who produced the map, said it hopes to add extra temporary on-street disabled access parking spaces soon.

Earlier this month, a Bath resident called on blue badge drivers to block roads in the city centre to protest the removal of accessible parking spaces.

“Although we’ve had to make some temporary changes to the layout of roads to facilitate social distancing, we want to ensure that disabled people can easily find accessible parking bays.” said Councillor Joanna Wright, joint cabinet member for Transport.

“Our new map clearly shows the location of every disabled parking bay in the centre of Bath and I hope disabled motorists, and those carrying passengers who are Blue Badge holders, find it a useful resource.

“We know disabled access bays close to shops are a vital resource, particularly for those with mobility problems, and we are currently looking at where we can install some additional temporary on-street disabled access parking spaces in the city.
