Training of people with intellectual disabilities in a University environment, on professional skills, and a diploma issued by a University has a positive impact on job placement.

The Unidiversidad program was launched by the ONCE Foundation, with the support of the European Social Fund (ESF).

149 young people with intellectual disabilities in Madrid have trained in several universities in this program. The Unidiversity projects are focused on the job skills of people with intellectual disabilities, and complemented by extracurricular activities on Campus, shared with other university students.

The majority of young people with disabilities leave the education system with low self – esteem and inadequate educational facilities. The Universities are managing to reverse this situation through these programs and offer them a successful and productive training experience.

In the 2018-2019 academic year, 323 students participated, who at the end of their internships, had 50 companies that offered them employment contracts. During its three editions, Universidad has trained 887 young people with intellectual disabilities to improve their quality of life and social inclusion. Registration for the fourth edition is now open.
