Persons with disabilities declared themselves “domestic calamity” and demanded the Government of Honduras to deliver food and medicines to them during the coronavirus crisis.
The disability sector has mentioned that its members lack home care facilities. In addition, many need medications to maintain their health, but they have not been given either.
The group has denounced that after two months, the Government had failed to provide essential items during the COVID-19 crisis.
Blanca Barahona, who serves as the head of the Coordination of Rehabilitation Institutions and Associations of Honduras (CIARH), stated that the Government has promised to people with disabilities an amount of L26 million for granting an emergency fund.
Due to the coronavirus situation that is not happening and the promises not fulfilled by the Government, Barahona warned that they give a period of 24 hours for the Government to respond to the demands of this sector.
