Advancing in the programs for linking people with disabilities and ventures across the country, as a central part of the action plan for inclusion, employability and leadership of people with disabilities and their caregivers, was the central theme of the meeting held today by the Vice President Marta Lucía Ramírez and the Presidential Advisor for the Participation of People with Disabilities, Jairo Clopatofsky, and their work teams.
Currently, a total of 4,264 people with disabilities are linked to public entities and the goal is to reach 12,000 jobs in the public sector in the four-year period. The national government seeks to guarantee the rights of this population, complying with the decree 2011 of 2017, which establishes the minimum percentage of connection with respect to the size of the plant.
Councilor Clopatofsky stated that “from the Ministry we work to create jobs for people with disabilities, thanks to the support of the Administrative Department of the Public Function, the Public Employment Service Unit, SENA, Innpulsa and the Vice Ministry of Culture. We seek to strengthen roadmaps and consolidate proposals in entrepreneurship and innovation that allow highlighting the capabilities and leadership of the population.”
One of the great challenges of the Government, through the Vice Presidency of the Republic, is to reach all departments and municipalities with a public policy of inclusion that allows strengthening the skills of people with disabilities, their families and caregivers. The Ministry is monitoring the formulation and application of Development Plans, in order to adapt the reality of the territories, to manage and execution of actions for the benefit of the population with disabilities.
Vice President Marta Lucía Ramírez called on the country’s business sector to open workspaces for this population. “As a country, we all have to sensitize ourselves to those Colombians with any condition of disability, especially since there is still no complete regulation that requires a change of attitude,” she said.
Finally, the Counselor recognized that the Sanitary Emergency COVID-19 has become an opportunity to get to know reality in depth. This has allowed the Government to advance in the process of characterizing this population, generating strategies for the recognition of rights, inclusion and equity of people with disabilities, their families and caregivers.
