The Indian government has allocated ₹1,225.27 crore to the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities for the fiscal year 2024-2025. This budget aims to enhance the quality of life for persons with disabilities through various initiatives and programs.

A portion of the budget is directed towards the National Program for the Welfare of Persons with Disabilities, which includes numerous schemes and services designed to support and empower persons with disabilities. Additionally, the budget provisions for educational scholarships are expected to provide access to education and skill development for persons with disabilities.

However, not all areas have seen an increase in funding. The Centre for Disability Sports has experienced a notable reduction in its allocation. This decrease may impact the development and promotion of sports activities for persons with disabilities, potentially limiting opportunities for athletes with disabilities to participate in competitive sports and physical activities.

The focus on welfare programs and education aims to foster an inclusive environment where persons with disabilities can thrive. However, the reduction in sports funding highlights the need for a balanced approach to ensure comprehensive support for all aspects of life for persons with disabilities.
