Santa Barbara Airport unveils Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program

Santa Barbara Airport has introduced a new program aimed at providing comprehensive support to passengers with hidden disabilities, ensuring a seamless travel experience for all.

Globally, one out of every seven individuals faces the challenge of living with a disability, and and many of those are non-visible. This spring, the SBA is collaborating with 200 airports worldwide to introduce the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program for passengers. Through the use of Sunflower lanyards, passengers with hidden disabilities can discreetly communicate to airport staff that they may require additional patience, time, or assistance during their travel journey.

SBA will provide these lanyards and related materials at no cost to anyone interested in participating.

Furthermore, SBA is taking the initiative to train all staff members to recognize the significance of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower symbol, foster a deeper comprehension of non-visible disabilities, and enhance their ability to support these passengers effectively throughout their travel experience.
