Volunteering WA to host workshops on Digital Inclusion and Accessibility

Volunteering WA will host a series of sessions on inclusion and accessibility for persons with disabilities.

The sessions will be delivered by experts from The Centre for Accessibility with lived experience, and are suitable for volunteer managers, marketing and content creators, and IT and admin teams in your organisation.

Session 1: Wednesday 10 August, 1:00pm – 4:00pm

  • Suitable for all paid and volunteer roles within a volunteer involving organisation. This session will cover:
  • How people with disability engage with your content: includes a hands-on exercise using a screen reader
  • The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) overview
  • Policy and legislation related to following the WCAG standard

Session 2: Wednesday 17 August, 1:00pm – 4:00pm

  • Suitable for all paid and volunteer roles within a volunteer involving organisation. This session will cover:
  • Remote meeting accessibility
  • Social media accessibility
  • Document accessibility including workshopping an inaccessible document into an accessible one
  • Future standards and considerations

Session 3: Wednesday 24 August, 1:00pm – 4:30pm

  • Tailored for your organisation’s IT, website manager and/or marketing coordinators. This session will cover:
  • Website Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) in-depth
  • Testing your content for accessibility
  • Visual checks: before and after examples of accessible website transition interactive exercise
  • Testing tools and confirming WCAG compliance
