Moscow has launched the “Act without Barriers!” program aimed at helping people with vision disabilities to develop professional skills.

The program is being implemented by the Moscow City Organization of VOS in partnership with the Department of Labor and Social Protection.

Act without Barriers! will take place in several stages. The first stage will have organizers become acquainted with the target audience of the project – Muscovites with visual disabilities. Experts will collect the audience’s opinion on the existing problems in Moscow using a survey. As a result of the research, a group of the most active and proactive people with visual disabilities – those who understand the problems and can offer constructive solutions – will be selected.

At the next stage, teams of active survey participants will be formed – they will obtain social design skills and work on their concepts during the summer. The organizers will hold a series of master classes, lectures and seminars from existing specialists and experts. As a result, each team will identify the most interesting problem, formulate its own solution and formalize it in the form of a ready-made project of a grant application.

The last stage of the “Act Without Barriers!” program will begin in the fall. The expert committee will assess the effectiveness and relevance of the solutions proposed by the groups. After that, the teams will receive the necessary support to implement their own projects over the next months. The organizers will track the process of work and the progress of the participants. At the end of the year, the commission, together with the participants, will assess the level of finished projects as well as the quality of the capabilities, knowledge and skills acquired by the participants.

The program will increase the potential and develop the capabilities of active and proactive Muscovites with disabilities, involve them in solving socially significant problems of the city and improve the quality of life for all people with vision disabilities with the help of implemented projects. The organizers of the project invite Muscovites with vision disabilities wanting to improve their skills and abilities and solve problems of accessibility in the city to take part in the program.

To participate in Act Without Barriers!, you need to take a complete the survey. Detailed information about the program can be found on the website of the Center for Sociocultural Programs “IN People”.
