Accessibility high on agenda at Music Festival

people at Music Festival

People of all abilities will be able to enjoy an outstanding experience at this year’s BASSINTHEGRASS Music event, thanks to a range of new accessibility measures introduced to the Territory’s iconic music festival that will take place at Mindil Beach on 15 May.

Festival organiser Northern Territory Major Events Company has engaged Carpentaria Disability Services to promote a more inclusive environment for all festivalgoers.

This year music fans with special needs will have access to two elevated platforms, each boasting plenty of shade and providing direct views of the closest stage.

There will also be accessible toilets at each end of the venue, and Pro Floor (portable event flooring) will be installed to minimise uneven surfaces across the event site.

There will be three accessible Drop Off/Collection Zones (on Atkins Dr, Gardens Rd and Chin Quan Rd), and as is always the case, carers accompanying a ticketed guest with special needs can attend BASSINTHEGRASS for free.

All festivalgoers will have access to a new Chill ‘n’ Charge Zone that offers a shady area to relax in, a range of comfortable seating options and cables to charge mobile phones.

There will also be free water, sunscreen and sanitiser, and Event Champions who will help everyone have a safe and enjoyable time at BASSINTHEGRASS.
