Next year, no matter how you choose to cast your vote, access to transportation should not be a barrier in Ecuador. The National Electoral Council (CNE), the National Council for the Equality of Disabilities, and the National Federation of Taxi Operators of Ecuador (Fedotaxi), signed an agreement on December 10 to guarantee the right of voters with disabilities in the upcoming election on February 7.

Xavier Torres, president of Conadis, specified that 426,738 people are registered for this electoral process, 7% more than those registered in the 2019 sectional elections.

Fedotaxi arranged 344 taxis that will travel 172 routes for transfers throughout the country.

Diana Atamaint, head of the CNE, reported that 653 citizens (323 men and 330 women) would be beneficiaries of voting at home. These people will be over 50 years of age by the day of the elections and qualified by Conadis with 75% disability.

The CNE will set up 4,385 priority service tables in 4,276 polling places. People with vision disabilities will have 8,770 Braille ballots.

The official explained that those who wish to go to the polls through this service must fill out a form posted on the Conadis website.
