New subsidies in Barcelona for improving housing accessibility

Barcelona City Council has announced that it will subsidize the improvement of home accessibility and safety for people with disabilities, through a subsidy of 475,000 euros.

“La meva llar,” a new subsidies program for improving housing accessibility for persons with disabilities live independently, is being launched by the Municipal Institute of People with Disabilities. It includes persons with disabilities in the community by encouraging them to leave residential homes and living with greater personal independence.

The call for grants will be extended to one million euros during the application submission period, which will be from September 28 to November 9, the Council has reported in a statement.

The program aims for people with disabilities to live independently in society.

The maximum amount for subsidies for accessibility renovations in homes between 5,000 – 10,000 euros depending on the types of disability. Those who have been registered in their current residence for at least one year must be the “permanent” residence.
