A Request for Proposal for non-government organisations to construct Specialist Disability Accommodation on four parcels of land will open on GrantsNT on Monday 14 September 2020.

The four parcels of land located in Darwin’s northern suburbs are suitable for the construction of residential housing and will be transferred to the successful proponent as a Grant in return for the construction of Specialist Disability Accommodation.

Proposals from non-government organisations need to demonstrate the ability to provide dwellings that qualify for Provisional Design Certification by an accredited National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Specialist Disability Accommodation assessor prior to construction commencing as well as qualify for final as-built Certification once completed.

The successful proponent will need to be registered as a Specialist Disability Accommodation provider (or able to be), demonstrate a track record in the delivery of disability accommodation, as well as have the capacity and capability to construct SDA.

Non-government proponents may consider partnering with the private sector for the construction component of the SDA.

Land will be transferred to the successful proponent/s subject to the terms of the Grant Agreement with the transferred land caveated and covenanted to protect the Department’s interest in the land and to ensure the land is used for the intended purpose for a minimum of 20 years.

The Request for Proposal opens on 14 September 2020 and closes on 23 October 2020.
