The Spanish Association of Aniridia (AEA) has joined the campaign ‘Now more than ever, keep it in mind’ which aims to raise awareness about the situation of people with vision disabilities in face of the ‘new normal’ as they depend on touching as one of their communication channels.
As reported by the AEA on Monday, the campaign also encourages the use of the ‘I have low vision’ badge by those who have a vision disability.
The badge offered to its members through Acción Visión España, can be used alone or with the white cane or guide dog, indicating that whoever uses it has low vision, ans is not totally blind.
The president of AEA and user of a guide dog, Yolanda Asenjo, commented that “there is a massive group that, sometimes, needs specific help. Neither the posters, digital screens, nor the queues at the doors of the establishments are visible for these people. ”
Also, in its effort to inform and raise awareness about aniridia and low vision, the AEA organizes, in collaboration with four professional experts, an online conference that can be followed live on its YouTube channel.
This conference will take place on Friday, June 19 at 6:00 p.m., also serve as a commemorative event for International Aniridia Day, to be held on June 21, and the Association’s Anniversary, which will take place on June 15.
