As long as the coronavirus restrictions last, people with disabilities will be able to obtain new certificates through remote procedures.
This was confirmed by Claudio Espósito at the Disability Commission of the Chamber of Deputies. The resolution that would come out in May enabling the process would be added to an earlier one that extended the expired certificates for 120 days.
Espósito also highlighted the other measures taken by the Government for this sector. Among them, the payment of a bonus of reinforcement of three thousand pesos for the beneficiaries of non-contributory pensions. He also showed the transparent face masks “that allow lips to be read by sign language interpreters.”
When asked by deputy Gisela Scaglia (Pro) about the interruption of benefits for disabled people, Espósito said that “an epidemiological suspension criterion was used” to avoid the spread of Covid-19. But he clarified that there are benefits that were kept open, such as homes and residences.
Mirta Tundis, from the Frente de Todos, proposed to the official that the social works “carry out audits in places where people with disabilities are hospitalized.”
The Certificate of Disability is valid for 0 to 5 years, depending on the case. It is the only public document valid in the entire country and allows the exercise of rights and access to benefits provided by national disability laws. Among them, full health coverage, free public transportation, family allowances, and tax exemption. For more information, at Argentina.gob.ar
