New AI app empower students with learning disabilities

New Artificial Intelligence live transcription and collaboration app for students with learning disabilities has announced by Otter.ai.

Peer note-taking in education has long been plagued with challenges as students were dependent on others for the quality, consistency, and timeliness of their notes.

“UCLA recognized we needed to offer our students with learning disabilities more control over their academic accommodations. We looked beyond peer note takers for a highly accurate, reliable, and easy-to-use app and found Otter.ai,” said Dr. Nickey Woods, Director of the Center for Accessibility at UCLA.

“Otter Voice Meeting Notes empowers our students with automated live transcription, removes their dependency on others, and enables them to access the learning environment in a way that’s most efficient for them. By enabling students to actively engage in lectures and study groups vs focusing on note-taking, we believe Otter is an important and valuable tool for education.”

New features in Otter have made the product more relevant for students and note-takers in education. For example, using the custom vocabulary feature, students can add proper names, academic terms, and specific acronyms to their account and these will be automatically recognized by Otter.

Otter Voice Meeting Notes is an AI-powered platform that transcribes voice to text in real time and generates rich notes for meetings, in-person, remote, live or pre-recorded conversations or presentations. By capturing spoken words accurately and making valuable information easily searchable and shareable, Otter helps students stay focused, save time, and collaborate in classrooms, study groups or while learning remotely. Otter can be used for select online classes or entire virtual learning programs as high schools and universities take all classes online.
