Disability Legislations and Policies
Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) –Ratified on July 10, 2010. It has not ratified the Optional Protocol to the CRPD. Malaysia’s CRPD State Party reports submitted to the Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights (OHCHR).
Persons with Disabilities Act 2008 – The main Act concerning disability in Malaysia is the Persons with Disabilities Act 2008. Travel Related Information
While the Persons with Disabilities Act recognizes the rights of persons with disabilities to enjoy the benefits of travel, housing, education, employment and healthcare, there is no penalty for those who do comply.
Many areas of Kuala Lumpur are accessible for persons with disabilities, but even some areas and services remain outfitted with a full range of facilities. A number of sidewalks do not have curb-cuts making it difficult for wheelchair users to navigate the roads.
Petronas towers – One of the main tourist attractions in Kuala Lumpur, the Petronas towers are wheelchair accessible and also have accessible bathrooms on the ground level.

Most of the public transportation is accessible in Kuala Lumpur. The only obstacle can come in reaching the stations since roads and sidewalks are not always accessible.
