Disability Legislations and Policies
Lithuania ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2010. There were more than 250,000 persons with disabilities in Lithuania, and the country was consistently moving from a medical disability assessment towards a bio-psycho-social model. In 2014, the Government had conducted a survey on the situation of women with disabilities, highlighting challenges they faced in different areas. Legal framework and policies:
The main document, which protects Lithuanian disabled person’s interests, is well-built legal base called, “Lithuanian Republic disabled person’s social integration law’’. This law make chances to objectively evaluate person’s ability to work, get necessary medical, professional and social rehabilitation services and payments.

Travel Related Information
With cobbled and often narrow streets, and steep or stair access required to navigate key sights such as the Cathedral Belfry, Gediminas Castle and the Museum of Genocide Victims, Vilnius is unfortunately not the easiest city for travellers with mobility issues.
Vilnius Tourism offers a downloadable map of a route around the Old Town suitable for many travellers with mobility disabilities.
Friendly City has online listings of businesses with step-free access, though there isn’t a huge number of entries (and not all have wheelchair-accessible bathrooms).
For hotel rooms with widened doorways, bath rails and other disability-friendly features, global hotel chains are usually the best bet. For example, the Kempinski and Narutis each have a room suitable for travellers with disabilities. Note that such rooms need to be reserved well in advance.
