Disability Legislations and Policies

Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) – Ratified on August 1st, 2008. Brazil’s CRPD State Party reports submitted to the Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights (OHCHR).
Inclusion of People with Disabilities Act (SCD 4/2015) – Passed in 2015, the new law focuses on many aspects of disability – employment, grants, services, accessibility and data collection.
The National Plan for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities – Living Without Limits (Plano Nacional dos Direitos da Pessoa com Deficiência – Viver sem Limite) – Launched on November 17, 2011, the objective of the Plan is to promote citizenship and strengthen the participation of persons with disabilities in society by promoting their autonomy, removing barriers, and providing access and enjoyment on an equal basis to the goods and services offered to the population as a whole. The Plan’s measures are organized around four axes: education, health, social inclusion, and accessibility.
