Vans unveils Autism Awareness Collection with sensory inclusive designs

Vans Autism Footwear collections

Vans has unveiled a new ‘Vans Autism Awareness Collection,’ footwear and apparel which has been designed with Autism in mind.

The California-based company has created an Autism Awareness Collection of footwear and apparel designed with sensory-inclusive elements such as a calm color palette and details that focus on the senses of touch, sign and sound.

T-shirts, sweatshirts, slip-on shoes and sneakers are all included in the line, which launches this month. A portion of its proceeds (at least $100,000) will be directed to the organization A.skate Foundation, which provides skate lessons to children with autism.

Vans worked with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards to create designs utilizing Vans ComfyCush technology for all day comfort and ease of wear for adults, kids and toddlers.

A portion of the proceeds from Vans’ Autism Awareness Collection will benefit the A.skate Foundation, which introduces skateboarding to kids with autism. A.skate holds clinics for children with autism at no cost to the families, provides grants to children with autism for skateboarding gear, as well as promote awareness and educates families about the therapeutic benefits of skateboarding. The proceeds from this collection enables A.skate to teach 4,000 children with autism how to skateboard and further builds on the inclusive and creative culture of skateboarding.

The line will be available beginning this month at the Vans website and its retail stores.
