Australia’s Disability Strategy Advisory Council has released its roadmap to deliver its top priorities this year, endorsed by all Disability Ministers across Australia.

The 2026 Work Plan focuses on:

  • The independent evaluation of Australia’s Disability Strategy
  • Better access to information and communications
  • Increased disability employment in the Australian Public Service
  • Ongoing implementation of Disability Royal Commission recommendations

The Work Plan also sets out practical actions across key sectors to better meet the needs of people with disability, including stronger support in education.

The Advisory Council gives independent advice to disability ministers and governments across Australia to help deliver, track and assess Australia’s Disability Strategy.

The Advisory Council has also released its 2025 Annual Report.

Advisory Council Chair Jane Spring AM says strong progress was made in 2025 to deliver Australia’s Disability Strategy and drive practical reform.

“We remain committed to promoting inclusion, strengthening rights, and ensuring the voices of people with disability continue to shape policy and practice,” she said.

NDIS Minister, Senator Jenny McAllister said: “The Labor Government is committed to a more inclusive and accessible Australia for all people with disability.

“Australia’s Disability Strategy is a national commitment across governments and sectors to do just that.

“That’s why the Advisory Council’s Annual Report and Work Plan are such important signposts in ensuring all governments are working together to deliver on this commitment.”
