More accessible facilities will be constructed for persons with disabilities at Line 2 of the LRTA to improve its services to passengers with disabilities in Manilla.

The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) will implement the “WheelAssist” Project, which aims to improve the commuting experience of persons with disabilities, in partnership with the Junior Chamber International-Manila (JCI-Manila).

One of the facilities that are expected to be set up is the installation of braille stickers at the Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) to aid passengers with vision disabilities.

Regino said the project would also pave the way for LRTA customer-facing staff training on handling and engaging with persons with disabilities.

He said the training on Non-Visible Disability, Sensitivity, and Awareness with Basic Filipino Language would be facilitated by TERPCAP. This accessibility services provider enables organizations to become more accessible and inclusive.
