The Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB) organized a project to raise education funds for people with vision disabilities in collaboration with Six Sense Creative at Kompleks MAB in Brickfields on January 21.

The “Project Mata Hatiku” project is a strategy to establish a platform for the sole purpose of raising funds to educate and train people with vision disabilities to meet the demands of IT in daily living and economics, reported New Straits Times.

“We keep education as the primary focus so that the blind can get to live a normal life. With education, they also can get proper employment,” said MAB chief executive officer George Thomas.

According to Thomas, the funds raised would be used as scholarships for tertiary education.

The Project is a range of hijab and shawls designed and produced in Malaysia, and the designs feature Malaysian flora and fauna.

The hijab and shawls are chiffon-georgette, with 30 various designs available for consumers to choose from, and more designs will be launched during Ramadan this year.

For each purchase of hijab and shawl, 15 percent of the proceeds will go to MAB’s education fund.
