United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia and the Ministry of Social Development in the Sudan organized a capacity building workshop entitled: “Leaving no one behind in strategic planning: social integration of vulnerable groups (persons with disabilities and older persons)”.

Participants learned how to evaluate the existing policies and identify the mechanisms for including issues of disability and ageing in the relevant strategies and policies, and how to approach the associated challenges in other Arab countries.

The workshop focused, through practical exercises, on the evidence-based policymaking process, and the generalization of the principle of “leaving no one behind” in national policies, as well as ways to integrate issues of the older persons and persons with disabilities in strategic planning.
