For three years, Halil Sahin, from Turkey’s eastern Malatya province, has carried his 10-year-old son, who is physically disabled, to school every morning, despite heavy rainstorms and horrible road conditions.
Halil’s son, Batuhan, was born with a physical disability. Halil carries him on his back, one kilometer (0.6 miles) to school every single day.
Halil said, “I carry my child to school by my own means. It’s hard sometimes because of bad weather and roads, but I’ll still carry him to school on my back because my son loves his school.”
The devoted father added, “I’ll get my child educated. I’ll try to walk my son. I’ll do my best for this. I’ll do anything to get my child educated.”
He has asked authorities to fix the road between their house and the school and also, for assistance to get Batuhan an electric wheelchair.
Expressing his love for school, Batuhan said, “When I grow up, I want to be a police officer.”
