In Australia, architect appointed for $18.3 million education support facilities

TAG Architects has been selected to design the rebuild of education support facilities and new classrooms at Kalamunda Senior High School and Kalamunda Secondary Education Support Centre.

The $18.3 million project will provide purpose-built learning areas and facilities at Kalamunda Secondary Education Support Centre to support the education needs of students with disabilities.

The new buildings will include education support facilities with classrooms, a staff preparation area, a low stimulus room, a therapy room, a sensory room and toilets.

In addition, Kalamunda Senior High School will receive visual arts studios and faculty block classrooms along with staff preparation areas.

This major project is expected to support 65 local jobs.

With the project now in the planning stage, construction is expected to start in early 2022 with completion expected in October 2023.

This investment is part of the McGowan Government’s $5.5 billion WA Recovery Plan to modernise Western Australian public schools.

“We are delivering high-quality facilities that meet their education and personal needs, but also provide the best opportunities to successfully transition to employment or further study.” said Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery.

“This significant investment will create jobs for Western Australians and provide important education support facilities for families in our eastern suburbs.”
