Young people with intellectual disabilities will be trained at the University of Alcalá de Henares (UAH) through the fourth edition of the ‘Unidiversity’ program, promoted by the ONCE Foundation with the European Social Fund’s support.

Classes will begin next week and will last until June, the organization reported in a statement. Participants will acquire skills in personal development and autonomy, as well as specialized employment-oriented training.

“The main objective of this program is to involve universities in the training of young people with intellectual disabilities, whose access to higher education is still insignificant,” they explained.

In this fourth edition, the ‘Unidiversity’ program participates in 23 universities, which will train some 400 young people with intellectual disabilities. This means that around 1,200 people have already participated in the program.

According to data from the first edition, one in four participants got a contract at the end of their training.
