Russia extends simplified disability confirmation procedure

Russia’s Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has signed an order extending a temporary simplified disability confirmation procedure until March 1, 2021.

The procedure envisages the tacit extension of the earlier confirmed disability for a further six months. It permits recognition of work incapacity without an applicant’s appearance in person for the first time and electronic system use.

The provision of disabled persons with rehabilitation equipment will also be solved without appearing in person, the document reads.

During a brief meeting with his deputies, Mishustin stated that such measures reduce the COVID-19 contamination risk and simplify receipt of required documents by people with disabilities. In the future, this distance procedure may become standing, the Head of the Government added.

Deputy Chair of the Civic Chamber’s Commission on Social Policy Yekaterina Kurbangaleyeva stated that the extramural evaluation may be in demand after years.
