The Municipality of Lima approved last wee Municipal Ordinance No. 2273 in favor of persons with disabilities, which aims to promote inclusion and universal accessibility in the urban management design of Metropolitan Lima.

This statute, which must be applied in the other districts, is approved in October, the month in which the National Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated, this Friday 16.

The rule encourages public and private institutions that offer various cultural, recreational or economic services and products to make changes and adjustments gradually. These should be applied in relation to buildings (both in the entrances and inside them), public spaces (accessible sidewalks and parks, for example), user orientation tools (use of sound and tactical-digital signals, etc.), and in digital media (web portals).

This will facilitate a city accessible to all persons with disabilities and will contribute to improving the quality of life of this population, that in Metropolitan Lima is a total of 949,969 people, which represents 11.08% of the city’s population.Likewise, the Week of Inclusion for People with Disabilities has been organized, from October 12 to 16, with conferences, talks, documentaries, videos, among other activities; To access them, you must enter the Facebook of the Social Development Management, Lima Education and the Municipality of Lima.
