Sochi to host 6th international wheelchair half marathon

The 6th International Rezept-Sport Wheelchair Half marathon will be held on October 23, 2020, at the main racing track of Russia Sochi Autodrom. 

Famous Paralympic athletes, pupils of the Honored Coach of Russia Irina Gromova, will take part in the VI International Half Marathon, international athletes from France, Mexico, the USA, and young athletes from Russian regions are expected to participate.

Registration for the half marathon will last until September 23 on the official website of the event. Any amateur athlete with disabilities who has the appropriate physical training to complete the half marathon route can participate.

The international half marathon in sports wheelchairs on the Sochi Autodrom track (Formula 1 track), with a length of more than 21 km, has been held since 2015. The idea of ​​the race came up during the Winter Paralympics in Sochi.

Our half marathon contributes to the development of the Paralympic movement in Russia, the Russian team’s success in the international arena. I hope that the epidemiological situation will make it possible to hold an unforgettable and vivid event for athletes,” said Mikhail Terentyev, chairman of the organizing committee of the VI international wheelchair half marathon.

The organizers of the half marathon are the All-Russian Society of Disabled People (VOI), the Russian Sports Union of Disabled People (RSSI), and the United Country Foundation for the Support of Disabled People with the support of the Sochi City Administration, the Russian Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Sports and Physical Culture of the Krasnodar Territory.
