The District presented in the session of the Technical Committee on Disability the investment projects for district entities to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities, their families and caregivers, within the framework of the District Development Plan “A new social contract and environmental for the Bogotá of the XXI century”.

These strategies include expanding coverage in social programs, more employment opportunities, and improving access to health. They are focused on strengthening inclusion, expanding coverage and generating opportunities and will be implemented by the District Disability System in the 20 localities of the city.

Education: it seeks to implement inclusive programs that contain a differential approach towards to this population in all district public schools.

Health: increase the number of people with disabilities linked to community-based rehabilitation programs, whose purpose is the development of autonomy and integral health.

Productivity: improve employment opportunities, both in district or national public entities and in the private sector to reduce entry barriers to the labor market.

Another very important goal of these projects is to expand the offer of social programs for those who dedicate their lives to caring for people with disabilities.

Representatives of the population with disabilities indicated that these strategies should be worked hand in hand with the beneficiaries to achieve an articulated work that allows the development of the capacities of all persons with disabilities, their families and caregivers.
