The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD) has helped persons with disabilities get through the pandemic adversely affecting the lives of millions across the country and world.

Over 1.23 lakh have benefitted from India’s initiatives across various parts of the country from June 2020 to August 14, 2020.

“Persons with disabilities need special care, so it is important that people around them in family and society also need training and sensitization to help people with disabilities and conduct themselves in a manner not to marginalize these people.” said NIEPVD Director Dr Himanghshu Das.

The institution has organized over 350 online training programs, workshops, webinars for students with disabilities, their teachers, and families to train and equip them with understanding to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.

“All the training sessions, as well as webinars, were of great value and immense help. These are hard times, and such programs help us get through,” said Pragya Mishra, a blind person who attended the training session.
