Consultation center for persons with disabilities opens in Komatsu City

Komatsu City has opened a Disability Counseling Support Center on June 26th, which supports telephone calls or emails 24 hours.

On weekdays, the staff of Ichisha Co., Ltd. responds to inquiries by telephone at the center. At night and on holidays, the 11 counseling specialists in five locations in the city take turns to transfer the call or send the email.

The city formulated the “Komatsu Disability Plan” in March 2012 and decided to maintain the center. In the past, each consultation support facility was individually supported, but a unified contact point will be established to cooperate with the city and welfare facilities. Counseling is also provided at each consultation support facility.

The city’s staff said, “As the caregiver is aging, we opened the center to respond to emergencies.” In the future, the center will also provide a place for the independence of persons with disabilities and secure specialized human resources.
