This year’s World Para Athletics European Championships in Bydgoszcz , Poland has been pushed back to 2021 because of the Covid19 pandemic.

The competition, scheduled for 2-7 June, had been initially postponed in on 26 March.

World Para Athletics and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) have since continued to observe the development of the coronavirus pandemic together with stakeholders and have agreed to delay the event to next year.

The decision will give both organisations time to appropriately monitor the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak in Poland and different European countries, including the gradual return of sporting events.

World Para Athletics and the Bydgoszcz LOC are currently discussing the new dates of the event with relevant stakeholders and expect to make an announcement later this summer.

Bydgoszcz will host the seventh edition of the European Championships. Around 600 athletes are set to compete at the Zdzislaw Krzyszkowiak Stadium.

The latest edition took place in Berlin 2018 with 596 athletes from 40 countries in action. Poland topped the medals table with 61 medals, including 26 golds.
