Vietnam to send 15-member team to Tokyo 2020 Paralympics

Vietnam has revealed it will be sending 15-member team to contest at Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Among the members, there are seven athletes: Vo Thanh Tung, Trinh Thi Bich Nhu and Do Thanh Hai (swimming), Le Van Cong and Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan (weightlifting), Cao Ngoc Hung and Nguyen Thi Hai (track and field).

These Vietnamese athletes haven’t competed in any international tournament for two years due to pandemic, greatly affecting their current form.

In 2020, they were training hard to prepare for Para Games in the Philippines but the event was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Most of the athletes in the delegation also took part in Paralympics 2016.

All members have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and will have to be tested three days before going to Tokyo.

Toyko Paralympics will take place from Aug. 24 to Sept. 5 with 22 sports and 540 categories.
