The Council comprises of up to 14 members, including people with disability and people with knowledge of an experience in matters relevant to people with disability.

Over the past year, the Council has assisted in the development of the ‘A Western Australia for Everyone – State Disability Strategy 2020-2030’ as well as providing advice to the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation’s Plastic Straws Working Group.

Individual Council members are required to bring knowledge, lived experience and invaluable professional and personal networks to the table. Applicants from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applications open on July 17 and close at 4pm on August 6, 2021. Further information can be found at http://www.communities.wa.gov.au/macd

“The Ministerial Advisory Council on Disability plays an important part in providing the WA Government with advice on issues relating to disability in Western Australia.” said Disability Services Minister Don Punch.

“It is incredibly important that Council membership reflects the diversity of the community and can represent all people with disability, their families and carers.”

“I invite anyone who believes they can contribute to the important work of the Council to submit an application and strongly encourage people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds – including Aboriginal people, people from regional and remote parts of the State, as well as young people – to apply.”
