From December 1, persons with disabilities will be able to buy train tickets online in Russia.

The Russian government supported Russian Railways and the Ministry of Transport’s initiative to integrate information systems of Russian Railways with the Federal Register of Disabled Persons and information systems containing information about beneficiaries in suburban traffic.

This initiative will enable persons with disabilities to buy train tickets online. Passengers with disabilities will be able to buy tickets for specialized seats online on the Russian Railways website and in the Russian Railways mobile application for passengers without visiting the ticket office to buy tickets or register at the Russian Railways Mobility Assistance Center.

The legal basis for purchasing a ticket will be checked automatically. To do this, persons with disabilities will need to enter their passport number and SNILS number. The corresponding decree of the government of the Russian Federation entered into force on December 1, 2020.
