The adapted radio workshops organized by the DISCCO Charitable Assistance Association are taking place at ETHOS Center for Diversity, located on Calle Bollullos in the County of Huelva, Spain, and will also continue during December.

These workshops last 30 hours and are aimed at people with intellectual disabilities who are grouped three at a time so that the attention is more individualized.

DISCCO has been working for the socio-labor inclusion of people with disabilities for more than 5 years, and promoting the employability of people with intellectual disabilities in a work environment in which they can fully develop their skills. The Association has scheduled the delivery of several Radio workshops, where they will learn how to prepare, and take interview, what is a radio program or how advertising spots are made.

All the training given is clearly oriented towards employment and is fully adapted to each student’s personal needs and the new challenges of the world of work. Also, the influence that participation in radio workshops has on a person with intellectual or developmental disabilities has been demonstrated:

Development of communication and social skills.

  • Self-esteem.
  • Social visibility.
  • Understanding of disability.
  • Media literacy.

“It is a luxury to be able to participate in such beautiful and necessary projects, such as these workshops, and do our best to continue promoting social inclusion, and in this case also labor, of people with functional diversity. This is the only way to achieve a more just and inclusive society” said Director of ETHOS, David Núñe.
