Webinar: Equality of access to healthcare for people with developmental disabilities

The Scope and University of Melbourne will host a free webinar on November 12, titled “Equality of access to healthcare for people with development disabilities.”

The right to health is enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. However, there are a range of barriers and issues that people with disability may experience with the health system that contribute to poorer outcomes for people with developmental disabilities. A lack of coordination between the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and health systems can compound the issues experienced by persons with disabilities.

The anticipated release of the interim report from the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability offers an opportunity to explore some of the themes emerging from the Commission on equality of access to healthcare for people with disability.

The event will feature a keynote address from Professor Julian Trollor from the University of New South Wales, along with a panel discussion featuring members of the disability community.

The Zoom link for the webinar will be sent to you via email prior to the event.
