The objective is to make visible the demands and proposals of this vulnerable group, to improve their quality of life and contribute to the construction and improvement of their social environment.

With 98 votes in favor, the Plenary of the Senate of the Republic approved a draft decree presented by the United Commissions for Social Security and Legislative Studies, which establishes September 12 of each year as the “National Day of Women with Disabilities ”.

The proposal indicates that it is necessary to make visible the needs of these groups that experience particular forms of discrimination, since they suffer double discrimination, both in terms of gender and disability, which increases a lag in their development in other social groups.

With the creation of the “National Day for Women with Disabilities”, the document details, they will be given greater opportunity and visibility to express the demands and proposals they have to improve the quality of life of this vulnerable social group, giving them their own voice to express themselves in contribution to the construction and improvement of its social environment.
