The Australian Government is investing $64.9 million in grants to 138 organisations in the disability sector to build the capacity of Australians with disability to participate in and contribute to the community.

Organisations will be offered up to $500,000 per year for two years under the Individual Capacity Building (ICB) grants round, part of the National Disability Insurance Scheme Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) program to deliver projects in the community to benefit all Australians with disability, their carers and families.

Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme Stuart Robert said the grants give people with disability increased access to the knowledge, skills and confidence required to empower them to be active members of their communities.

‘The grant round is focused on individual capacity building for people with disability, it’s another important step forward in ensuring they have access to peer support, mentoring and other services that build their skills, knowledge and confidence to be involved with and benefit from the same community activities as all Australians’ Minister Robert said.

‘The 138 successful grants to organisations right across Australia will aid the important work these organisations carry out to deliver life-changing projects for people with disability, their families and carers,’ Minister Robert said.

Successful projects funded under this grant round include leadership courses to further empower people with disability, workshops to build confidence to speak up in the community, and online hubs for helping people with disability sign up to social activities and groups.

More information on the ILC grants is available on the Community Grants Hub.
