Conadis in Ecuador will guarantee the right to voting from home

Through a meeting with the main authorities of Conadis and the National Electoral Council, the possibility of maintaining the ‘Vote from Home’ program was analyzed, thus guaranteeing the participation of its beneficiaries in the next elections.

After an analysis of the mechanisms that will be implemented for access to suffrage, the authorities will decide the necessary adjustments, sanitary and preventive measures that will be taken to protect the health of citizens and ensure that the political rights and participation of people with disabilities are not limited.

Thus, they will be able to record their vote to elect the President and Vice President of the Republic, national and provincial assembly members and representatives to the Andean Parliament in the 2021 elections.

The ‘Vote from Home’ is a democratic process that, under the principles of equality and non-discrimination, allows people with disabilities to vote; however, health and protection measures will have to be considered to prevent contagion.

This program contemplates the vote of people with disabilities and the elderly from their homes in the country’s 24 provinces.
