In a welcome announcement in these difficult times, the Haryana State in India has decided to extend the benefits of a popular scheme to married couples with disabilities.
This was stated by the Haryana Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Banwari Lal, who said that the state government has decided to provide benefits of ‘Mukha Mantri Vivah Shagun Yojana’ to the persons with disabilities as well.
Under the scheme, Rs 51000 (INR) will be given to the married couple if both husband and wife are disabled, and Rs 31,000 (INR) will be given to the married couple if one spouse is disabled.
The Minister said that the eligibility criteria have been set for this scheme under which both husband and wife should be a citizen of India. The benefit of this scheme will be given to persons with disabilities of Haryana State only.
He said that the beneficiary could apply within one year from the date of marriage to get incentives. The competent authority should have registered marriage. Persons with disabilities of 40 percent or above will be eligible for this scheme, he added.
